CIVCO Adds to Radiation Oncology Product Line with Acquisition of Sinmed

Kalona, Iowa, USA- CIVCO Medical Solutions announced it has acquired Sinmed BV located in The Netherlands. Sinmed further complements CIVCO’s radiation oncology product line which was acquired with the purchase of MEDTEC, Inc. in November 2005. Sinmed joins CIVCO in offering a full line of medical products, software and services for use in diagnostic procedures, minimally invasive surgery and cancer therapy.

Sinmed is a global market leader in products for immobilization and positioning of patients undergoing radiotherapy treatments. With intensive cooperation with radiotherapy centers around the world, Sinmed develops, manufactures and markets a globally recognized line of patient positioning devices, including: the Mastercouch® carbon fiber couchtop, Posifix® head and neck fixation systems, Posicast® thermoplastics and Combifix™ lower abdomen positioning systems. Sinmed products are sold globally in over 60 countries through a dedicated network of distributors.

CIVCO’s radiation oncology business segment will be lead by key executives including Tom Doughty as General Manager- Radiation Oncology, Patrick Dammekens as Director of Asian Sales, Pieter-Jan Wegman as Managing Director of European Sales and Leo de Mooy as Managing Director of Product Development. Wegman and de Mooy previously were co-owners of Sinmed. The combined experience and expertise of the executives is expected to play a key role in contributing to CIVCO’s growth and expansion into more global markets.
