ePlan™ Remote Treatment Planning Print

Implement IMRT quickly, efficiently, and competitively with the ePlan turn-key approach to remote treatment planning.

Inverse treatment planning results in the highest dose optimization for IMRT treatments. However, this complex process requires substantial physics expertise and time - as much as 12 hours per patient and an exhaustive learning curve.

MEDTEC solves this challenge - making it possible to implement an IMRT program regardless of staff or patient load - with our remote treatment planning service, training, support, and Enabling Technologies.

The physics staff at Northwest Medical Physics Equipment (NMPE, a MEDTEC Company) works in partnership with your on-site clinical staff to provide IMRT treatment plans to meet your requirements. Staffing resources, as well as the upfront and ongoing cost impacts of IMRT are minimized through this remote, web-based approach.

Image acquisition and volume contouring are performed by your clinical staff. Using the contouring workstation, which is part of the ePlan program, the physician or physicist contours the site(s) of interest and provides the objectives of the treatment plan. This information is digitally transferred using your internet connection. NMPE’s physics planning staff produces the optimal IMRT inverse treatment plan according to established protocols for the given anatomical sites(s). The plan is returned via your internet connection within 24 to 72 hours, for review on the same workstation used for contouring.

No special T1 lines are required – files are transferred via your existing high-speed internet connection.

To get started, your facility receives a contouring workstation. An engineer implements DICOM connectivity to your specific imaging devices. Next, an applications specialist provides a comprehensive on-site training program.

An ePlan set-up includes:
• The contouring and review workstation
• All beam data acquisition and modeling
 • Installation and training
• An optional two-day physics consultation

To implement ePlan a facility needs:
• MLC capabilities (or compensator based IMRT)
• Record and Verify System
• High-speed internet connection
