Accuracy
The Precise Bite is a custom-molded dental positioner that works with your mask to enhance daily reproducibility. By providing a custom focal point for the patient, the Precise Bite helps pre-position the patient, helping correct rotation and minimize mandible movement. The positioner integrates with MEDTEC’s complete line of thermoplastics to improve the accuracy and stability of every patient setup.

The unique Precise Bite material softens in warm water, then comfortably conforms to the patient’s dental contours. After the dental positioner is set, a thermoplastic cast is pulled over the patient, and the Precise Bite docking plate simply snaps into the thermoplastic to permanently bond to the mask.

The Precise Bite is available in standard or small sizes.

The McLaurin Arch integrates to MEDTEC's reloadable Uni-frame and Type-S frames for added rotational stability and repositioning accuracy. The arch comes with three plastic nose pieces. Optional positioning interfaces include a custom-moldable thermoplastic nasal disc, a reusable plastic upper bite block, or an athletic-style moldable mouthpiece.

MEDTEC and Midwest RF have collaborated to address the challenges inherent with MR imaging of oncology head patients positioned with thermoplastic immobilization masks. Standard head coils were not designed to accommodate these masks, as there is insufficient room within the MR coil. The Midwest RF Special Procedures (SP) Head Coil was designed specifically to address this problem.

The Special Procedures Head Coil features a flat bottom, designed into the base of the coil, which allows a baseplate to secure a MEDTEC thermoplastic mask. After the imaging procedure, the mask is simply removed and re-used in CT or treatment. By immobilizing the patient during the MRI procedure via the MEDTEC mask, positioning is replicated to that of treatment/therapy, fusion accuracy is enhanced, and patient motion is reduced or eliminated.

To further enhance treatment planning accuracy, CT and MR visible fiducial markers can be positioned on the outside of the mask.

The Midwest RF SP Head Coil can also be used in radiation oncology as a radiosurgery planning positioner, providing easier positioning of stereotactic frames and improved patient comfort.

MEDTEC’s exclusive FAST FIT™ head fixation system was designed by Robert L. McLaurin, Jr., MD to fit into the confines of an MRI head coil. It features a pre-punched thermoplastic sheet with reusable plastic or carbon fiber handles. Softened thermoplastic is pulled down over the patient’s face to the narrow baseplate in a “drape and mold” fashion, which reduces stretching and provides a rigid mold for both imaging and treatment positioning.

For additional fixation, a carbon fiber McLaurin Arch with a nasium interface can be added.

For 360º treatments, the FAST FIT baseplate can snap into an interface plate for the Type-S™ head extension.
